BOLKUS FALLS ON SWORD OF DISCRIMINATION

Senator Bofkus has caved in to Opposition pressure on electorate salaries.

He has been caught out in his plan to give a pay increase only to union members.

This has been confirmed by the press release by the Public Service Union.

His comments in yesterdays press release are outrageous. Bolkus owes John

Howard a public apology!

The transcript of the proceedings before Commissioner Smith in the Industrial

Relations Commission clearly shows that not only was the discriminatory nature of

the agreement drawn to the attention of the representatives of the Government and

the P.S.U. but that no attempt was made by them to rectify the discrimination.

The agreement in its present form does discriminate against non-union members.

Senator Bolkus should put his money where his mouth is and make the

appropriate application to the Commission to amend the agreement.
