FAMILY PAYMENTS BETTER ADMINISTERED:

RUDDOCK

"Changes to family payments, which took effect from 7 January will mean that those who are most entitled to the payment will have access to it", Philip Ruddock, Liberal Candidate for Berowra and current Member for Dundas said today.

"I am especially pleased to see that the payment will in most cases be made to the mother, who is usually the primary care giver to the children."

Families affected by the new system may have already received individual letters detailing• their new payments during January, 1993. About two million recipients nation-wide will receive advice that they are entitled to the Family Payment.

The Family Payment replaces the Family Allowance for those families currently receiving this payment only. It also replaces Family Allowance Supplement. Most families in the electorate of Berowra would probably fall into these categories. There

will be little change for these families except for the name.

However, for people receiving Social Security income support payments such as pensions, allowances or benefits, the changes will be more significant.

These families will get their money in two separate payments. Most families will still receive the same total amount, it will just be paid on different days.

"If any local resident is confused about the changes or would like further information about the changes, please do not hesitate to contact me on 477 5806", Philip Ruddock said.
