RUDDOCK PRESENTS CHEQUE TO THE SAVE

THE CHILDREN FUND

Liberal Candidate for Berowra, Philip Ruddock MP presented a cheque to the President of the Northern Districts Branch of the Save the Children Fund, Mrs Joan Austin OAM in Eastwood yesterday. The cheque, presented at their first meeting of the year, was for $1000 and was as a result of money raised at Philip's annual

Christmas Charity Luncheon.

Last year's luncheon was held at Beecroft Bowling Club on December 14 and was attended by many Iocal residents and business people. The Guest speaker on this occasion was John Raedler, who spoke on "The Future of Christmas in Australia".

"I am delighted to be able to present this cheque to you to assist in the ongoing work of the Save the Children Fund, as a result of our efforts through the Christmas Charity Luncheon last year", Philip Ruddock said.

"I have had a long standing and personal interest in the Save the Children Fund and I am delighted to see that the Fund is stronger than ever, especially amongst members in the local area. I am . constantly touched by the amount of hard work put in by the ladies and men of our area in raising money for the world's children".

Others in attendance at the meeting included Jim Clough, former State Member for Eastwood and current Patron of the local Branch of the Save the Children Fund, Bobby Knox, Vice President of Save the Children NSW and Alf and Jean Hayes, who recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and who have been very involved with the Save the Children Fund for many years.

The President, Mrs Joan Austin thanked Philip for his efforts and generosity, and for his longstanding interest in the Fund. She mentioned also the involvement of Philip's parents and family in the work of the Save the Children Fund.

Business forum luncheons will continue right through the year. Details of dates and venues will be announced.
