NORTHERN DISTRICTS RESIDENTS PENALISED BY KEATING STATEMENTS

PHILIP RUDDOCK, LIBERAL CANDIDATE FOR BEROWRA, SAID THIS WEEK THAT THE NORTHERN DISTRICTS HAVE ONE OF THE HIGHEST PERCENTAGES OF SELF-FUNDED RETIREES IN ANY PART OF SYDNEY.

"THE GOVERNMENT'S PROPOSAL TO REDUCE COMPANY TAX WOULD FURTHER PENALISE THE THRIFTY. THE REDUCTION OF THE CORPORATE TAX RATE FROM 39 CENTS TO 33 CENTS IN THE DOLLAR WOULD INCREASE THE TAX PAYABLE BY SELF-FUNDED RETIREES AS THE DIVIDEND IMPUTATION REBATES ARE DEPENDENT UPON CORPORATIONS HAVING PAID THE MAXIMUM TAX IN ADVANCE OF PAYMENT OF DIVIDENDS."
