LABOR BREAKS ITS FIRST PROMISE

19 March 1993

"Less than one week after the election Paul Keating has already broken his first promise" Philip Ruddock, Federal Member for Berowra, commented today.

"At Labor's Election Campaign Launch the Prime Minister re-confirmed his commitment to remove all pensioners from the tax system by 1995. However the Treasurer, John Dawkins, has now announced that the Government will not honour this pledge.

Quite clearly Labor has no qualms about breaking this election promise so early in its new term. Australians unfortunately are committed to another three years of Labor's failed

administration; their only successful achievements - more recession, more unemployment and more foreign debt."
