Centrelink services to relocate for ‘Greensborough Project’

Member for Jagajaga, the Hon Jenny Macklin MP, and Minister for Human Services, Senator Joe Ludwig, reassured Greensborough residents Centrelink will continue to service the local community during an important council redevelopment project.

“The current Centrelink office in Flintoff Street will close its doors on Friday 19 September to allow for major construction works under the Banyule City Council’s ‘Greensborough Project’,” said Ms Macklin.

“While this work takes place, Centrelink will still be providing assistance for customers through an Access Centre at 25 Main Street.”

“Customers can use this Access Centre to lodge forms and make general enquiries, with the full range of Centrelink services available at the Heidelberg office, which is only eight kilometres from the current Greensborough location.”

“Customers can also access assistance through Centrelink’s Call Centres, while phone and internet self-service options may also be a convenient option for some customers.”

Senator Ludwig said a new purpose-built Centrelink office with improved facilities will reopen in Greensborough within 12 to 18 months.

“Although it is a little way off, it is really exciting that Greensborough Centrelink customers will be able to experience the benefits of a brand new office,” Senator Ludwig said.

“This new office will provide an easy to navigate, vibrant and friendly environment.”

“It will include new features such as a more open-plan style with a larger area for customers, and an improved self service area for customers who want to update their details online, search the latest job vacancies, or get in touch with a Centrelink Call Centre.”

Ms Macklin said Greensborough customers have received a letter from Centrelink, explaining these alternate servicing arrangements.

“While there may be some changes in the short-term, this construction project will ensure Greensborough Centrelink customers have access to improved facilities for many years to come.”
