RENEWABLE ENERGY (ELECTRICITY) (CHARGE) AMENDMENT BILL 2000

GENERAL OUTLINE

The purpose of this amendment is to make consequential amendments to the Renewable Energy (Electricity) (Charge) Act 2000, to take account of amendments to the Renewable Energy (Electricity) Bill 2000.

FINANCIAL IMPACT STATEMENT

These amendments will have no significant financial impact on the Commonwealth.

 



 

RENEWABLE ENERGY (ELECTRICITY) (CHARGE) AMENDMENT BILL 2000

 

NOTES ON CLAUSES

Clause 1 - Short title

The clause provides that the Act may be cited as the Renewable Energy (Electricity) (Charge) Amendment Act 2000 .

Clause 2 - Commencement

The clause provides that this Act commences immediately after the commencement of the Renewable Energy (Electricity) (Charge) Act 2000, which it amends.

Clause 3 - Schedule(s)

This clause provides that any Act specified in a Schedule to the Act is amended or repealed as set out in the relevant Schedule. It also provides that Schedules may contain other provisions that have effect according to their terms.

Schedule 1 - Renewable Energy (Electricity) (Charge) Act 2000

Item 1 - Section 6

This item alters section 6 of the Renewable Energy (Electricity) (Charge) Act 2000 to remove the proposed amendment to index the rate of charge, payable for non-compliance with the requirements of the Renewable Energy (Electricity) Bill 2000, to the Consumer Price Index.  In place of a CPI amendment, the amendment proposes to specify the rate of charge as $40 per megawatt hour.
