THE PARLIAMENT OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
BROADCASTING SERVICES AMENDMENT BILL (No. 3) 1999
SUPPLEMENTARY EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM
Amendments to be moved on behalf of the Government
Amendment (1) removes Schedule 3 - International Broadcasting Services from the Bill. Schedule 3 is being removed from the Bill and is proposed to be re-introduced into the House of Representatives as a separate Bill. Schedules 1 and 2 are expected to be non-controversial. Introducing Schedule 3 as a separate Bill will give the Parliament more time for the consideration of the measures in that Schedule.
The amendment has no financial impact.
(Circulated by authority of the Minister for Communications, Information
Technology and the Arts, Senator the Hon Richard Alston)
