Workplace Relations Amendment (Australian Defence Force Service and Training) Bill 1999
OUTLINE
The purpose of this bill is to ensure that leave for service and training as a Member of the Australian Defence Force Reserves is an allowable award matter for the purposes of the Workplace Relations Act.
NOTES ON CLAUSES
Clause—Short Title
Clause 1 provides that the Act be cited as the Workplace Relations Amendment ( Australian Defence Force Service and Training) Act 1999.
Clause 2—Commencement
Clause 2 provides the Act will commence on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.
Clause 3—Schedules
Clause 3 provides that an Act that is specified in a Schedule is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule.
SCHEDULE 1—A MENDMENT OF THE WORKPLACE RELATIONS ACT 1996
1 Subsection 89A(1)
This item proposes that subsection 89A(1) of the Workplace Relations Act 1996 be amended to included a reference to new subsection 89A(2A) (see item 2).
2 Section 89A
This item proposes the insertion of new subsection (2A) in section 89A. The new subsection will provide that leave for service and training as a member of the Australian Defence Force Reserves is an allowable matter for section 89A.
3 Subsection 89A(3)
This item proposes that subsection 89A(3) of the Workplace Relations Act 1996 be amended to include a reference to new subsection 89A(2A) (see item 2).
4 Subsection 89A(6)
This item proposes that subsection 89A(6) of the Workplace Relations Act 1996 be amended to include a reference to new subsection 89A(2A) (see item 2).
