RENEWABLE ENERGY (ELECTRICITY) AMENDMENT BILL 2009
OUTLINE
This amendment will clarify that the Renewable Energy Regulator will be responsible for administration of partial exemptions in relation to emissions-intensive, trade-exposed (EITE) activities under the Renewable Energy Target scheme. When the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme comes into force, the Australian Climate Change Regulatory Authority (the Authority) will administer these partial exemptions.

This amendment will not have a financial impact on the Commonwealth.

SCHEDULE 2 - PARTIAL EXEMPTIONS FOR LIABILITY TO CHARGE
All amendments in this amendment Bill will omit references to “Authority” or “Authority’s” and substitute “Regulator” or “Regulator’s” to clarify that the Renewable Energy Regulator is responsible for administration of partial exemption certificates.
