SUPPLEMENTARY EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM
Amendments to be Moved on Behalf of the Government
(Circulated by authority of the Minister for the Environment and Heritage,
Senator the Honourable Ian Campbell)
EXPLANATION OF AMENDMENT 1
1. This amendment will insert a new subsection 30D(4A) into the Renewable Energy (Electricity) Amendment Bill 2006 as introduced. The purpose of the proposed new subsection 30D(4) will provide a regulation making power to specify that the Renewable Energy Regulator must have regard to any matter prescribed by the regulations in considering whether or not to suspend the accreditation of a power station under proposed new section 30D. Proposed new section 30D gives the Renewable Energy Regulator the power to suspend such an accreditation when the Regulator determines that the power station is involved in a gaming arrangement.
