FARM HOUSEHOLD SUPPORT AMENDMENT BILL 2003

 

GENERAL OUTLINE

 

1.       The amendments to the Farm Household Support Amendment Bill 2003 will change the references to “farmer” in sub items 35 (3), (4) and (5) to “person”.

 

2.       The amendments will correct a reference within the transitional provisions and achieve consistency between these provisions of the Farm Household Support Amendment Bill 2003 and the eligibility criteria contained in the farm help advice scheme and the farm help re-establishment grant scheme.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT STATEMENT    

 

3.       The proposed amendments to the Farm Household Support Amendment Bill 2003 do not require any additional expenditure by the Commonwealth.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 



 

 

NOTES ON CLAUSES

 

Amendment 1 Schedule 1, item 35, page 9 (line 12)

 

4.  This item omits “farmer” and substitutes “person”. The amendment will achieve consistency with the eligibility criteria contained in the farm help advice scheme.

 

Amendment 2 Schedule 1, item 35, page 9 (line 15)

 

5.  This item omits “ farmer ” and substitutes “person”. The amendment will achieve consistency with the eligibility criteria contained in the farm help advice scheme.

 

Amendment 3 Schedule 1, item 35, page 9 (line 18)  

 

6.  This item omits “farmer” and substitutes “person” as t he reference to farmer within this sub item is incorrect. A person who is currently eligible to receive the farm help retraining grant under the farm help re-establishment grant scheme should not be a farmer as they are required to have sold their farm to receive the retraining grant. The amendment will also achieve consistency with the eligibility criteria contained in the farm help re-establishment grant scheme.

 

Amendment 4 Schedule 1, item 35, page 9 (line 22)

 

7.  This item omits “ farmer and substitutes “person” as the reference to farmer within this sub item is incorrect. A person who is currently eligible to receive the farm help retraining grant under the farm help re-establishment grant scheme should not be a farmer as they are required to have sold their farm to receive the retraining grant. The amendment will also achieve consistency with the eligibility criteria contained in the farm help re-establishment grant scheme.

 

Amendment 5 Schedule 1, item 35, page 9 (line 25)

 

8.  This item omits “farmer” and substitutes “person”. The amendment will provide consistency with sub items 35(3) and (4).

9.  This item omits “farmer” and substitutes “person”. The amendment will provide consistency with sub items 35(3) and (4).
