Fishing Levy Bill 1991
House: House of Representatives Portfolio: Primary Industries and Energy Purpose To impose a levy on statutory fishing rights and fishing permits.
Background Refer to the Digest for the Fisheries Management Bill 1991.
Main Provisions A levy will be imposed on statutory fishing rights and fishing permits by clause 5.
The rate of levy will be as prescribed by the regulations (clause 6).
The levy will be payable by the holders of statutory fishing rights and fishing permits (clause 7).
The Governor-General may make regulations prescribing the rate of levy (clause 8).
