A Bill for an Act to amend the law relating to agriculture, fisheries and forestry, and for related purposes

The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1   Short title

                   This Act may be cited as the Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Legislation Amendment Act (No. 1) 1998 .

2   Commencement

             (1)  Subject to subsection (2), this Act commences on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.

             (2)  Schedule 1 commences, or is taken to have commenced, on 1 January 1999.

3   Schedule(s )

                   Subject to section 2, each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect according to its terms.



 

1  The whole of the Act

Repeal the Act.



 

2  Saving provision

(1)        Despite its repeal, the Dried Vine Fruits Equalization Act 1978 , as in force immediately before 1 January 1999, continues to apply in relation to all export sales of exported dried fruit to which a separate account for a previous season relates.

(2)        In this item:

previous season means a season starting on 1 January 1997 or 1 January 1998.

Insert:

AFC Processed Meats Forum means those members of the Australian Food Council who are also members of the Processed Meats Forum of that Council.

2  Section 3

Insert:

Australian Food Council means the body registered as a company under the Corporations Law under that name.

3  Section 3 (paragraph (b) of the definition of eligible industry body )

Repeal the paragraph, substitute:

                     (b)  the AFC Processed Meats Forum; or

4  Paragraph 42(1)(c)

Omit “National Meat Processors’ Association”, substitute “AFC Processed Meats Forum”.

5  Subsection 46(3)

Omit “National Meat Processors’ Association”, substitute “AFC Processed Meats Forum”.
