A Bill for an Act to amend the law relating to
telecommunications interception and access, and the sharing of
information and things, and for related purposes
The Parliament of Australia
enacts:
1 Short title
This Act may be cited as the Telecommunications Interception and
Other Legislation Amendment (State Bodies) Act 2012 .
2 Commencement
(1) Each provision of this Act specified in column 1 of the
table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with
column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect
according to its terms.

However, the provision(s) do not commence at
all if the event mentioned in paragraph (b) does not
occur.

3. Schedule 1, items 29 and
30
|
The later of:
(a) the day after this Act receives the Royal
Assent; and
(b) the day the Independent Broad-based
Anti-corruption Commission Amendment (Investigative
Functions) Act 2012 of Victoria receives the Royal Assent.
However, the provision(s) do not commence at
all if the event mentioned in paragraph (b) does not
occur.

4. Schedule 1, items 31 to
36
|
The later of:
(a) the day after this Act receives the Royal
Assent; and
(b) the day section 16 of the Independent
Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission Amendment
(Investigative Functions) Act 2012 of Victoria commences.
However, the provision(s) do not commence at
all if the event mentioned in paragraph (b) does not
occur.

5. Schedule 1, item 37
|
The later of:
(a) the day after this Act receives the Royal
Assent; and
(b) the day the Independent Broad-based
Anti-corruption Commission Amendment (Investigative
Functions) Act 2012 of Victoria receives the Royal Assent.

all if the event mentioned in paragraph (b) does not
occur.

6. Schedule 1, items 38 to
40
|
The latest of:
(a) the day after this Act receives the Royal
Assent; and
(b) the day Schedule 1 to the Cybercrime
Legislation Amendment Act 2012 commences; and
(c) the day section 16 of the Independent
Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission Amendment
(Investigative Functions) Act 2012 of Victoria commences.
However, the provision(s) do not commence at
all if the event mentioned in paragraph (b) or (c) does not
occur.

7. Schedule 1, item 41
|
The latest of:
(a) the day after this Act receives the Royal
Assent; and
(b) the day Schedule 1 to the Cybercrime
Legislation Amendment Act 2012 commences; and
(c) the day the Independent Broad-based
Anti-corruption Commission Amendment (Investigative
Functions) Act 2012 of Victoria receives the Royal Assent.
However, the provision(s) do not commence at
all if the event mentioned in paragraph (b) or (c) does not
occur.

8. Schedule 1, item 42
|
The later of:
(a) the day after this Act receives the Royal
Assent; and
(b) the day section 16 of the Independent
Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission Amendment
(Investigative Functions) Act 2012 of Victoria commences.
However, the provision(s) do not commence at
all if the event mentioned in paragraph (b) does not
occur.

9. Schedule 2
|
Immediately after the commencement of the
provision(s) covered by table item 2.
|
|
|
10. Schedule 3
|
The later of:
(a) the day after this Act receives the Royal
Assent; and
(b) the day Part 7 of the Public Interest
Monitor Act 2011 of Victoria commences.
However, the provision(s) do not commence at
all if the event mentioned in paragraph (b) does not
occur.

Note:
This table relates
only to the provisions of this Act as originally enacted. It will
not be amended to deal with any later amendments of this
Act.
(2) Any information in column 3 of the table is not part of
this Act. Information may be inserted in this column, or
information in it may be edited, in any published version of this
Act.
3 Schedule(s)
Each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or
repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule
concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect
according to its terms.
