A Bill for an Act to amend the Telecommunications (Interception) Act 1979 , and for related purposes
The Parliament of Australia enacts:
1 Short title
This Act may be cited as the Telecommunications (Interception) Legislation Amendment Act 2000 .
2 Commencement
(1) Subject to subsection (2), this Act commences on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.
(2) If items 58 to 64 of Schedule 2 to the Australian Federal Police Legislation Amendment Act 1999 commence on or after the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent, then the amendments made by items 2 and 3 of Schedule 3 to this Act commence immediately after the commencement of items 58 to 64 of Schedule 2 to the Australian Federal Police Legislation Amendment Act 1999 .

Subject to section 2, each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect according to its terms.
