Summary

Introduced with the Broadcasting Services Amendment (Media Ownership) Bill 2006, the bill amends the Broadcasting Services Act 1992 and Radiocommunications Act 1992 to reform the digital television and commercial television broadcasting regime, particularly in relation to: regulation of digital television; broadcasting of sports on the anti-siphoning list on new digital channels; commercial television licensing arrangements; allocation of channels for new digital services; the access regime for channel B datacasting transmitter licences and access undertakings; and industry codes and standards.
