Summary

As a consequence of the High Court’s decision in R v Hughes, the bill amends the Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals Act 1994 to clarify the powers, functions and duties of Commonwealth officials and authorities within the National Registration Scheme for agricultural and veterinary chemicals, including the conferral of duties, functions and powers on the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and on inspectors and analysts.
