Summary

Amends the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Act 1989 to: amend the appointment process for members of the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS); reduce the functions of AIATSIS; reflect contemporary language and apply culturally appropriate terminology; and repeal redundant provisions which enabled the transition from the Australian Institute of Aboriginal Studies to AIATSIS.
