Summary

Amends the Renewable Energy (Electricity) Act 2000 to: clarify the objectives of the Renewable Energy Target (RET) scheme; increase annual targets for renewable energy generation from 2010; implement a Solar Credits mechanism; require a review of the legislation and regulations in 2014 and for the review to be tabled in Parliament; provide partial exemptions from liability for certain activities; provide for the transition of existing and proposed State renewable energy target schemes; enable power stations utilising waste coal mine gas as a fuel source to participate in the RET scheme for a specified period; and further increase the annual targets under the scheme for the years during which this fuel source will be eligible.
