Human Rights Legislation Amendment Bill (No. 1) 1999

 

 

Schedule of the amendments made by the Senate

 

 

 

 

 

(1)     Schedule 1, page 13 (after line 8), after item 10, insert:

10A  At the end of subsection 31(1)

Add:

             ; and (f)  the access to or the use of any premises, by persons with a disability, that the public or a section of the public is entitled or allowed to enter or use (whether for payment or not).

(2)     Schedule 1, page 20 (after line 4), after item 56, insert:

56A  Paragraph 31(b)

After “any act or practice”, insert “, including any systemic practice,”.

(3)     Schedule 1, item 59, page 26 (after line 25), after subsection 46PK(2), insert:

          (2A)  The person presiding at the conference must ensure that the conduct of the conference does not disadvantage either the complainant or the respondent.

(4)     Schedule 1, item 59, page 27 (after line 7), after subsection (5), insert:

          (5A)  If, in the opinion of the person presiding at the conference, an individual is unable to participate fully in the conference because the individual has a disability, the individual is entitled to nominate another person to assist him or her at the conference.
