Social Security and Other Legislation Amendment (Income Support for Students) Bill 2009

 

 

(Amendments to be moved by the Leader of the Family First Party, Senator Fielding in committee of the whole

 

(1)     Schedule 1, item 2, page 4 (line 20), omit “or (10C)”, substitute “, (10C) or 10(CA)”.

(2)     Schedule 1, item 2, page 5 (after line 24), after paragraph 1067A(10C), insert:

     (10CA)  This subsection applies to a person if the Secretary is satisfied that:

                     (a)  in 2008 the person completed a course of education determined under section 5D of the Student Assistance Act 1973 to be a secondary course for the purposes of that Act; and

                     (b)  the person is undertaking full-time study because of his or her enrolment at a higher education institution in a course of education (the chosen course ) determined under section 592N to be an approved scholarship course; and

                     (c)  disregarding paragraph 1067D(1)(a) and subparagraphs 1067D(1)(c)(ii) and (iii), the person is required to live away from home.
