Senator WHEELDON (Western AustraliaMinister for Repatriation and Compensation) - in reply- I do not want to prolong this debate. I am pleased that the Opposition supports the Bill. As Senator Carrick has said, it is an important Bill. The matter of soil conservation is of tremendous importance to Australia, which is still primarily an agricultural and pastoral country, and the purposes of the Bill are to see that we preserve this great natural asset of the Australian people. I welcome the support of the Opposition and trust that the Bill will have a speedy passage.

Question resolved in the affirmative.

Bill read a second time, and passed through its remaining stages without amendment or debate.
