Senator GREEN WOOD (QUEENSLAND) -But this is the other oath with which we are concerned and the Attorney-General has not indicated his attitude to my amendment except by his statement 'no' when I called for a division. My argument to the Committee is that we have a form of oath which every judge takes that he will well and truly serve Her Majesty the Queen or His Majesty the King in a certain office. That is not the language of the oath or affirmation here being required. My amendment seeks to ensure that the words 'I will well and truly serve Her Majesty the Queen'the customary form, the traditional oath or affirmation- are included as part of the words of the oath which everyone takes. Therefore if there is a vote 'no ' when the amendment is put and it is declared that the noes have it, I will seek a division.
