Senator DAVIDSON (SOUTH AUSTRALIA) - My question is addressed to the Minister for Customs and Excise and it arises from representations made on behalf of anaesthetists. I ask whether the Minister is aware that anaesthetists have been greatly inconvenienced by inability to obtain certain drugs, especially Pentothal, on which they are dependent? Is the Minister aware of complaints relating to his own Department and its control of the imports of such drugs? Can the Minister give any information that will assist anaesthetists to obtain important drugs for their requirements.

Senator MURPHY -I regret that I am not aware of this problem. I will have the matter investigated to see what can be done. If I can solve the problem I will. If there is any reason to prevent me from solving the problem I will inform the honourable senator and the Senate.
