Senator DRAKE-BROCKMAN (WESTERN AUSTRALIA) -My question is addressed to the Leader of the Government in the Senate. In view of the current state of uncertainty in the Australian motor vehicle industry, when will the government announce a decision on the Industries Assistance Commission report on the vehicle industry?


Senator Murphy - Do you want me to answer this?


Senator DRAKE-BROCKMAN - I thought that you might be able to answer it as Leader of the Government, rather than the Minister. As the report was received more than 3 months ago and as the situation within the industry in the meantime has rapidly deteriorated, does the urgency not demand a prompt and clear statement of the Government 's intention on the report?


Senator MURPHY -I ask the Leader of the Australian Country Party to put the question on notice
