Senator DAVIDSON I n directing a question to the Minister representing the Minister for Immigration, I remind the Minister of a call which I made in a speech in the Senate last Thursday for a reactivation of the immigration program. In the light of statements made over the weekend in the same terms and because of the desperate need of industry for additional personnel and the worsening shortage of materials, will the Government reconsider its program in relation to a higher target and intake of new settlers? Can the Minister comment on whether the Immigration Planning Council has undertaken any study in relation tb the nation's needs? Are there any plans to restore recruitment centres in source countries overseas?

Senator Douglas McCLELLAND (NEW SOUTH WALES) Obviously, this is a matter for my colleague the Minister for Immigration in another place. Indeed, it concerns a matter of Government policy. I would therefore suggest to the honourable senator that he place his question on the notice paper.
