Senator Withers asked the Minister representing the Minister for Defence, upon notice:

(   1 ) How many resignations were received from Army officers, by rank, in each week of this year up to 3 1 August.

(2)   How many resignations have been accepted.

(3)   Of the resignations accepted, what proportion were from (a) Royal Military College graduates (b) Officer Cadet School graduates, and (c) others.

Senator Bishop - The answer to the honourable senator's question is as follows:

(1   ) and (2) Figures for Army officer resignations are not available on a weekly basis being compiled on a monthly basis.

Army officer resignations submitted and accepted by rank, for each month of this year up to 3 1 August 1973 were:


(   3 ) Of the resignations accepted approximately:

(a   ) 1 3 per cent were from Royal Military College graduates;

(   b) 1 6 per cent were from Officer Cadet School graduates;

(c)   1 7 per cent were from others.
