Senator LAUCKE (SOUTH AUSTRALIA) - I direct my question to the Minister representing the Minister for Minerals and Energy. In view of the serious world shortage of petroleum products and the need to ensure greater self-sufficiency in these basic commodities in Australia, what action is the Government taking to revitalise interest in oil search and exploitation in both on-shore and submerged areas? Is it not a fact that Australia is losing out to Indonesia and other South East Asian countries in oil search activity because of greater incentive and encouragement being provided in those countries as against the attractions that Australia is now offering?
