Senator Greenwood asked the AttorneyGeneral, upon notice:

(1)   How many applications for financial assistance under section 14 IB of the Conciliation and Arbitration Act have been made to the Attorney-General since 5 December 1972.

(2)   By whom was each such application made.

(3)   How many applications were refused and, if there were any, on what grounds was the assistance refused.

(4)   What authorisations have been made by the AttorneyGeneral in respect of such applications.

(5)   What payments by the Commonwealth have been made to each such applicant.


Senator Murphy - The answer to the honourable senator's question is as follows:

(1)   One.

(2)   The application was made jointly by J. E. Harding, H. M. J. Meyer, P. Daiton, S. P. Borgin, N. Goodrew, W. E. Harding, G. W. Whitehead, P. C. Harrison, R. J. Nemee, R. J. Fuller, C. W. McDonald, W. A. Greig, and P. L. Neilsen.

(3)   None.

(4)   I have authorised financial assistance in respect of the only application which has been made.

(5)   None.
