Senator Douglas McClelland (NEW SOUTH WALES) asked the Minister representing the Postmaster-General, upon notice:

(1)   Has there been an increasing tendency on the part of television and radio stations to use the media service offered by newswire agencies.

(2)   How many journalists are employed by commercial radio and television stations in Australia.


Senator GREENWOOD - The PostmasterGeneral has provided the following answer to the honourable senator's question:

(1)   I have been informed by the Australian Broadcasting Control Board that it is not aware of any increasing tendency on the part of broadcasting and television stations to use such services.
