Senator LAWRIE (QUEENSLAND) - Has the attention of the Minister representing the Minister for Shipping and Transport been drawn to a report in this morning's Press that the Australian National Line is to have a new container ship, 730 feet long, built in Japan? Will the Minister further consider the matter with a view to having this ship built in Australia and so help preserve the Australian shipbuilding industry and the jobs of many Australians?

Senator COTTON - This is something about which I have not read. Therefore it will be necessary for me to direct the question to the appropriate Minister. I shall do this.
