Senator WRIEDT (TASMANIA) - My question, which is directed to the Minister representing the Minister for Shipping and Transport, follows that asked earlier by Senator Marriott about the operations of the Australian National Line to Tasmania. Will the Government take immediate steps to implement recommendations 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 of the report of the Senate Standing Committee on Trade and Industry in relation to shipping freights and thus relieve the Australian National Line of some of the impossible statutory restrictions under which it is forced by the Government to operate?

Senator COTTON - I think I should direct that question, as well as the one I which was asked earlier by Senator Marriott, to the Minister for Shipping and

Transport. The report of the Senate Standing Committee on Trade and Industry has been studied by the Department of Shipping and Transport, but at the moment I am in no greater state of knowledge than that.
