Senator McLAREN (SOUTH AUSTRALIA) - I ask the Minister for Civil Aviation: Has a survey been carried out recently by the Department of Civil Aviation in the Callington-Monarto area near Murray Bridge in South Australia with the view to establishing a commerical airport in that region?

Senator COTTON - It is customary for the Department of Civil Aviation to investigate sites in every State and Territory of the Commonwealth of Australia well in advance of a potential need for an airport. I should imagine that that has been done in this case. More precise information will be sought and provided to the honourable senator.
