Senator CANT (WESTERN AUSTRALIA) asked the Minister representing the Minister for Labour and National Service, upon notice -

1.   Has the Premier of Western Australia stated that in that State the metal and electrical trades have almost ten vacancies for each job applicant and the building and construction trades have almost six vacancies for each applicant?

2.   In view of this shortage of skilled tradesmen is it the intention of the Government to call-up for National Service training tradesmen in these industries who have had their call-up deferred pending the completion of their apprenticeship training?
