Senator HENTY
- The answers to the honorable senator's question are -
1. Yes. However, the Government has invited the German authorities to enter into a further study of the traffic flow between Australia and Germany in October next to serve as a basis for further consideration as to whether an increase in the number of Lufthansa and Qantas services between the two countries would be appropriate.
2. No. Qantas has for some time planned to" reduce the number of services operated through Germany to once a week. This change became effective with the introduction of a new timetable on 29th March 1965.
3. The Government after a long and careful examination of the current and reasonably anticipated requirements for the carriage by air of traffic between Australia and Germany concluded that a once weekly return service by the German airline Lufthansa and Australia's international airline Qantas would adequately satisfy these requirements.
