Senator GORTON - The AttorneyGeneral has forwarded the following replies - 1. (a) The Universal Copyright Convention, (b) The Brussels revision of the Convention of the International Union for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works.

2.   The Copyright Law Review Committee recommended that Australia should accede to these conventions. This cannot be done until substantial changes have been made to the copyright law in force in Australia. The requisite changes are set out in paragraphs 38 and 39 of the Committee's report. The Committee incorporated these changes in the general revision of the copyright law which it recommended. The question of accession to the two conventions is being considered in the context of the Committee's report.

3.   See answer to 2.
