Senator COHEN asked the Minister representing the Minister for Territories, upon notice -

1.   Has the Government yet made a decision on the recommendations of the Currie Commission on Higher Education in Papua and New Guinea?

2.   Has the Government investigated the possibility of seeking assistance from the International Development Association, the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, or any other specialised agency of the United Nations for the purpose of establishing an institute of higher technical education and an autonomous university in Papua and New Guinea?

3.   Has the Government abandoned any intention of observing the timetable suggested by the Currie Commission for the various stages of development of these two tertiary educational institutions?
