Senator Sir WALTER COOPER - I desire to ask a question of the Minister representing the Minister for Health. Is it a fact that only a very small proportion of the Australian population has been vaccinated against smallpox? If so, is there a possible danger of an epidemic of smallpox being introduced into Australia from overseas countries by travellers in jet aircraft? Will the Minister advise the Senate of any precautions that are being taken at present to prevent smallpox being brought into this country? Does he consider it advisable to conduct a campaign to encourage Australian citizens to take advantage of the protection afforded by vaccination?
