Senator McCLELLAND (through Senator O'Byrne) asked the Minister representing the Acting Treasurer, upon notice -

1.   Did the Treasurer state last year that the Decimal Currency Board will shortly be making its recommendations on the form of Government compensation, if any, which it considers appropriate for owners of machines, other than cash registers, adding machines and accounting machines?

2.   What recommendations, if any, has the Decimal Currency Board made in this connection?

3.   Is the Government prepared to meet the cost of altering the £ sign on typewriters to the new dollar sign?
