Senator PALTRIDGE - I think that the instrumentalities of the Department of Trade and Industry are used by Australian industrialists and investors in this connection. The Department's officers at various points are available to advise Australian industrialists and investors and, as the Prime Minister of Singapore remarked on more than one occasion during his recent visit to Australia, there is already quite strong evidence of the active interest, and indeed participation, of Australian industry in some of the new ventures, particularly in Singapore itself. I have had the pleasure of seeing some of these industries which have been established, in some cases with Australian participation. I would think that in the main this has been helped by the activities of the Australian Department of Trade and Industry.
