Senator CAVANAGH (SOUTH AUSTRALIA) - In view of the appalling educational standard of applicants to join the military forces as disclosed by the Minister for the Army, I ask the Leader of the Government in the Senate whether the Government will establish a committee of inquiry into primary and secondary education to ascertain whether alterations could be effected to our educational system that would ensure that all children leaving primary school would have an educational standard higher than the standard of the average child of ten years.
