Senator LAUGHT asked the Minister representing the Minister for Primary Industry, upon notice -

1.   In view of the genuine fears of the Australian wine industry that the new British import charges will deal a crippling blow to the hopes of increased sales to the United Kingdom, will the Minister provide the Senate with precise information as to the extent, if any, to which the increased charges apply to Australian wines?

2.   If the Australian wine industry is adversely affected, will the Minister use his best endeavours to further negotiations with the United Kingdom to alleviate the position?
