Senator PALTRIDGE - It is clear, now, that the report of the Vernon Committee of Economic Inquiry will not be presented within the next few days. Indeed, it must be clear to everyone that even if it were presented it could not be made available to anybody other than members of the Government before they had sufficient time to study it. I have no idea at all as to whether the Vernon Committee might want to consider its findings in the light of the new defence expenditure. This is a question the Committee will have to consider but I venture the personal view, for what it is worth, that the Committee would not consider that to be necessary.
