Senator Sir WALTER COOPER - I desire to ask a question of the Minister representing the Minister for Territories. Has the Minister read an article which appeared in the Queensland " Sunday Mail " of 8th November headlined " A Black Mark for the Alice "? The article was written by a special correspondent. It stated that incredible scenes of drunken degradation and savage violence have mushroomed in the streets of Alice Springs since Aborigines were given the right to drink. It stated further that wild brawls between drunken Aborigines are a nightly occurrence in the town's main street as the tempo of unrestricted drinking quickens. If this is correct, will the Minister inform the Senate what steps are being taken to prevent such degrading scenes from taking place?
