Senator WEDGWOOD (VICTORIA) - I direct my questions to the Minister representing the Treasurer. Is it a fact that on the death of a taxpayer who has been conducting his own business or who is in receipt of income, his estate is not entitled to the concessional deductions which normally would have been claimed by the taxpayer before his death? Does this mean that for the period until probate is granted the estate is taxed on its full income without the benefit of any concession for dependants who must still be supported, or any other concessional deductions such as for medical and educational expenses? Will the Minister refer this matter to the Treasurer for examination and comment?
