Senator HENDRICKSON (through Senator Poke) asked the Minister representing the Prime Minister, upon notice -

1.   Have Australian passport restrictions on travel to Communist countries been abolished and is it now unnecessary for Australians who wish to travel to those countries to make a separate application to the Department of Immigration?

2.   What were the reasons for the change?

3.   Is the change to be taken as an indication that the Australian Government proposes to fall into line with Great Britain on the contentious question of recognition of Communist China, particularly in the light of the fact that mainland China is becoming Australia's best customer so far as wheat and wool are concerned?
