Senator MCCLELLAND (NEW SOUTH WALES) - My question is directed to the Minister representing the Minister for the Army. Is the Minister aware that Australian troops in Borneo are dissatisfied because the zone allowance paid to them is less than the zone allowance paid to Australian troops serving in the Northern Territory and New Guinea? Is the Minister aware that Australian troops serving on the Malayan Peninsula are paid an additional 9s. a day because they have to eat English forces' rations? Will the Minister take action to bring the zone allowance for Australian troops in Borneo at least up to the rate that is paid to troops in the Northern Territory and New Guinea? Why cannot Australian troops on the Malay Peninsula be provided with Australian rations?
