Senator HENTY - The answers to the honorable senator's questions are as follows-

1.   As shown in my report to Parliament for the year ended 30th June 1964, companies in the Ansett group were paid the following subsidies for the year ended 1963-64:

 

2.   I am unable to advise the honorable senator of the amounts of taxable profits of, or the amounts of income tax paid by, the Ansett group of airline companies in any year. The secrecy provisions of the income tax law prohibits the Commissioner of Taxation from supplying this information to me.

3.   Paragraph (g) of section 26 of the Income Tax Assessment Act includes as part, of the assessable income of a taxpayer " any bounty or subsidy received in or in relation to the carrying on of a business (other than subsidy received under an agreement entered into under an Act relating to the search for petroleum) . . . ".
