Senator CANT asked the Minister representing the Postmaster-General, upon notice -

1.   Did a demonstration take place in Perth on Saturday,5th September, in protest against the quality and type of television programmes being televised in Western Australia?

2.   Did the demonstration call for action by the

Commonwealth Government to implement the recommendations of the Senate Select Committee on the Encouragement of Australian Productions for Television?

3.   Has the Postmaster-General studied the report of the Select Committee and noted its recommendations?

4.   When the recommendations to increase the cost of television viewers' licences were agreed to, was it intended to apply any of the increase towards the implementation of any of the recommendations of the Select Committee?

5.   In view of this public unrest, when can the Senate expect to have placed before it, either orally or in writing, a ministerial statement on the attitude of the Government towards the recommendations of the Select Committee?
